"Proper Bicycle Gear For Great Riding..."
...Nowadays, you can personalize your bicycle with gear that matches your style. If you're not happy with your bicycle, making a few changes may give you the motivation to get back on the road.
How do you decide what changes to make? For starters, take a close look at your bicycle, beyond the basic, diamond-shaped bicycle frame. Of course, some of your bicycle gear may be old or worn-out. But, you may just be bored want to upgrade to more modern gear.
For instance, take the pedals. If you have double-sided pedals, maybe you want to get four-sided ones instead. Or, how about bulletproof pedals that come in silver, black, or red colors? And, if mud sticks to your pedals, you can try the Crank Brothers Eggbeaters. These pedals not only glide away mud, but are also slick-looking and lightweight.
Speaking of mud, mudguards are another gear that you can consider. Also known as fenders, they keep clothes from getting caught in the chain. Mudguards come in lots of bright colors, so choose whatever look pleases you.
Next, you could think about getting a new mirror. A mirror, like the Third Eye bar-end, can go on the handlebar and give you a quick view of your surroundings. Qualities to look for in any mirror are scratch-resistance and durability.
Another gear that may need replacing is the bicycle brake. Besides the traditional brake, that has two levers to stop the bicycle, is the single-lever brake. The Brake Director is one example of gear that stops both wheels with only one lever.

Who can forget a light for your bicycle? Lights are not only decorative, they are absolutely necessary for safety during riding at night. Lights are usually a legal requirement, whether you bike in the United States or elsewhere.
Perhaps you have an LED light and want a more intense light. One bright night light is Cygo Lite, which uses halogen. On the other hand, rechargeable-battery-operated lights don't need alkaline batteries. Some of these lights don't even need a battery pack. For example, the Vega light uses a NiMH battery and recharges with a cell phone. How convenient is that?
A newer type of light is strobe, generally for the rear of a bicycle. Its battery-life is short, but the strobe light lets you see as far as three miles. It also makes a good light to use in an emergency. For anyone who gets thirsty while riding his bicycle, a bottle cage is a must. Some cages only hold one water bottle, while others hold as many as six. Again, a variety of colors lets you personalize your bicycle.
Have a problem getting clothes caught in the chain? You might need a chain guard, like one made from carbon fiber. You can also use bicycle gear, like the Third Eye Chain Watcher, to keep the chain from coming off on the inside, when you shift to low gear.
Lastly, the kickstand might be another gear that you can upgrade. For instance, Esge has a double-legged kickstand, which goes behind the rear chainstay when you're not using it. Another new type of kickstand involves a rear-mount, like the Greenfield Stabilizer, which has a large rubber foot for extra support.
Personalize your bicycle and head for the open road.
